ME asked: Alright, so for an independent study at school I’m considering building a “supercomputer” by linking up 25 or so old OLD computers (400 MHZ avg). There are two ways I was planning to do this, and I have no idea how to do either. I was either going to use the distributed computing idea and link them up on a network, or somehow link the processors together. Unfortunately, though, I have no idea where to start and have never done anything like this… can anyone help me out or give me a site that will help? I looked briefly at a beowolf cluster, but I’m not sure if that will work… the computers are all different.
Thanks!

Allrighty asked: Where do the currency exchange numbers come from? It’s not some guy setting it to certain price every day? It fluctuates in a matter of seconds? So what exactly calculates the number every second? Is it some kind of 1 supercomputer? Or how does it work?

I-am-indy asked: Let’s face it Humans are terrible leaders of countries, they promise , yet lie. They initialy get into politics to do good, but special interest groups, friends, and lobbyist get the better of them. They honestly think they can fix the worlds problems, but only manage to make them worse.
So, what country should experiment , by having a non-human ruler ? And what should it be ?

Pao asked: I know that there are computers out there whose processing speeds are out of this world(when compared to a normal computer).
(lets just say standard computers can do what supercomputers do)
I just want to ask how long it will take for a single mid-range laptop computer to do computational work a supercomputer does in 1 year in say : a) finding prime numbers b) simulating weather conditions and c) counting from 1 to infinity(if a supercomputer counts at it’s max capacity for a year, how long will the laptop take to catch up?)
weird as this question might seem, i really wanna know.
thanks
