I’m looking to build a desktop supercomputer or something close to it for everything from gaming to research to programing. Any hardware that I should replace in my current design?Processor: Overclocked Intel® Core™ i7-975 Extreme 3.86 GHz 8MB Cache
Power Supply: 1200 Watt Multi-GPU Approved Power Supply
Graphics Processor: Dual 1,792 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 295
Memory: 24GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz – 6 x 4096MB
Motherboard: Intel® X-58 Motherboard- Socket 1366 Core i7 Ready, Dual Triple Channel DDR3 Memory
Operating System: Genuine Windows Vista® Ultimate (64-bit Edition) with Service Pack 1
System Drive: RAID 0 – 512GB (2 x 256GB) Solid State Drive
Optical Drives : Dual Drive Configuration – Drive 1: 20X Dual Layer Burner (DVD±RW)
Drive 2:6x Dual Layer Blu-ray Burner (BD-RE, DVD±RW, CD-RW)

make sure sound is x-fi.
oh yeah best pc case now is made by ABS.its clled canyon 695 or something. its like $500
Mobile Computing Technology
Lot of unnecessary stuff in there brah.

LMAO….24 GB RAM,overclocked i7,1200Watts PSU!! Thats ridiculous dude.Pay for hardware you need not for hardware you’ll need in 10 years! I have a kick ass gaming computer that cost me $700
supercomputer
It looks very good and well but i would change the mobo because the Intel X-58 motherboard is not very good and stable and is terrible for overclocing. Instead i would either get an EVGA x58 SLI or an EVGA x58 SLI Classified or an ASUS Rampage II mobo. With the processor you can go for a lower version and clock it to 4.0 Ghz with no problems at all saving you some money there. Other than that it looks like a pretty solid build
Hope this helps
supercomputer
I think you’re a little low on Ram! Malaka!
Information Communication Technology
I fail to see ANY cooling devices what so ever in this configuration…
This is a ridiculous build. That processor and that much RAM is uncalled for…. honestly.
You could make a really strong computer for a lot less than you will be spending here.
Mobile Computing Technology
Well if you’re going to be ridiculous, get one of these
and put 2 of these in it.
You could probably put 3 of those GTX 295’s in it, and an absolute crapload of memory.
And I’m sure the whole thing would still cost significantly less than many new cars. What a deal.
Uhm well, yeah, no cooling whatesoever. But, your processor is puny. Why not go for the Intel Core i7 980x hexacore?
